Doors why are we so fascinated by them?
Is it the element of surprise as to what lies on the other side? Do we wonder who if any are allowed in?
How many do we close on ourselves? How many do we hide behind?
Are they entrances begging us to come forth or are they holding us back? How often do we realize we hold the key to the doors that hold us back? Why are we attracted, is it their strength…their adornments…the possibilities they represent?
Are they for privacy or just to keep others out? Do we open them to reach out to others or do we slam them in faces? How many do we freely walk through? How many have we walked through without noticing? Do the doors of your life open easily or is it a constant struggle? Are you often misplacing your key? Do you know why you want what is on the other side?
Are you avoiding what is on the other side? The only way to know what is Really there is to take Your Key and open it.
I remember dancing with doors–to all the hip songs of American Bandstand :).
They can be very accommodating.
I guess doors help me dance through life
I too remember dancing with the doors and having a lot of fun doing so
Beautimous!
Collection of photos are beautiful, I like the way you think. by asking viewers questions you invite them in what a treat.
Doors must have a great deal of sub-conscious symbolism to us as well. Psychologists link forgetfulness to passing a doorway, or threshold. How often do we walk into another room and not remember why, or open the refrigerator and forget for what we were looking?
Isn’t our birth a passing through an opening, or doorway? When we die, do we “pass” again through another door, i.e. St Peter’s Gate? Why is a bride carried over a threshold? Why did Christ use a door in His teaching? (“Knock it shall be opened unto you”).
Doors are so important, so obvious, and so overlooked.
Thank you so much for this very insightful comment…I am sure those who are reading will enjoy it as well
very nice photos of some interesting and beautiful doors. I never really thought about why ‘we are fascinated’ by them, you ask some good questions.
Thanks so much for sharing your time and thoughts with me.
